Introspective Thoughts
Diving into this writing journey is constantly making me contemplate who I am, what I am doing, and why I am doing it. I am reminded daily that there is so much more to writing than just putting words on paper. I have to think about how I want to present myself to my audience, what I am passionate about, and what gets me up in the morning.
It’s amazing and terrifying how much vulnerability and introspective thought has to go into all of it. I find myself scrolling through other authors’ websites and social media and comparing myself to them. Comparisons do not aid in the self-confidence realm; instead, within a few weeks, I found myself floundering into aimless oblivion.
In my months of introspective processing, I keep coming back to a fundamental truth: I can’t try to be like everyone else. I have to be myself. I may not follow the status quo, but I have to be true to myself. Anything else just falls flat.
So who am I? I am an individual who learns through exploring. Exploring, for me, takes many forms: reading, creating art, cooking, getting lost in tiny details on a walk, going to new places, learning history, diving up to my elbows into projects without knowing what I’m doing, and figuring it out.
To that end, I have come to the conclusion that my blogs and social media content will be centered around exploring. I invite you to get to know the real me by joining in my exploration. I welcome comments, community, new ideas, and things I should try. Exploring can be a solo activity, but it is so much more rewarding and life-giving in the context of community.
