<image:title>The Inspiration for My Stories - I Had a Parrot Who…Part 2 - As an American growing up in a foreign country, there were some treats my family really really missed from the States. From time to time, family and friends would send us care packages that supplied us with much desired items like peanut butter M&Ms and popcorn. It was such a special treat that we had to ration out how often we’d indulge.</image:title>

<image:title>The Inspiration for My Stories - I Had a Parrot Who…Part 2 - When mom pulled out the air popper, we were thrilled. My brother and I loved watching the popcorn pop in the clear container at the top of the machine. The delightful aroma of freshly popped popcorn was like sweet manna from heaven. As we mixed our peanut butter M&M’s into our fresh, buttery, salty popcorn treat, we’d be almost drooling. It was the best treat in the world.</image:title>

<image:title>The Inspiration for My Stories - I Had a Parrot Who…Part 2</image:title>
<image:caption>Somewhere along the way, my brother or I decided that our parrot, Squirt, might like to try some popcorn, too. The moment his beak sank into the first piece, he was hooked. I had a parrot who loved to eat popcorn! Squirt loved popcorn almost more than we did. There was no way on earth to escape giving him popcorn when we made it. He would squawk and scurry around his cage, bobbing his head, and wiggling his tail feathers. If we didn’t give him some right away, he’d start going through his most used sounds and words to get our attention. When the popcorn made it into his food tray, he devoured it faster than you could say “Bob’s your uncle.” Under his cage was always a disaster area afterwards. He was messier than a toddler when it came to eating popcorn, but he was happy as could be!</image:caption>
